Former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan Responds To KPK Calls In Hasto Kristiyanto Case

JAKARTA - Former Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan fulfilled the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Monday, January 6. He will be examined as a witness in the interim bribery case (PAW) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto.

From observations in the field, Wahyu arrived at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta at around 12.30 WIB. Not much was conveyed to reporters.

"Later, after meeting the investigators, I will tell you. I also don't know what to ask," Wahyu said at the location.

Wahyu admitted that he had just returned from his hometown. He conveyed this when asked whether there were files that would be submitted to investigators during the examination.

"No (bring the file, red). I'm from the village," he said.

For information, Wahyu should have been questioned last Thursday, January 2 but could not attend so he asked for a reschedule. In addition, investigators also summoned Hasto but he could not attend because there was a scheduled PDIP Anniversary series.

Previously reported, the KPK has named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah as PDIP cadres and lawyers as suspects in alleged bribery related to interim shifts (PAW) for members of the DPR RI.

They are suspected of participating in bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to smooth Harun Masiku's move to become a member of the council.

In addition, Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of carrying out a number of ways to make the case unfinished, one of which asked Harun to destroy his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was held.

In this case, Hasto and Donny have not been detained but have been prevented from leaving the country for six months. The same prohibition also applies to the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) of the era of President Joko Widodo, Yasonna H Laoly.
