264 Immigrants Of Ethnic Rohingya Land At Alue Beach Bu Tuha Aceh

ACEH - The National Unity and Political Agency of East Aceh Regency stated that 264 Rohingya ethnic immigrants landed on the coast of Alue Bu Tuha Beach, West Pereulak District, local district, Aceh Province.

Head of the Political, Government and Security Division of the National Unity and Political Agency of East Aceh Regency, Syamsul Bahri, said the immigrant landed on Sunday.

"The Rohingya immigrants landed at night. They landed using two ships. The East Aceh Regency National Unity and Political Team has gone to the location to record the immigrants," said Syamsul Bahri in East Aceh, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 6.

Of the 264 Rohingya immigrants who landed at Alue Bu Tuha Beach, 117 people, including men and 147 other women.

Regarding the follow-up to the existence of these immigrants, the local government together with the police and related officials are coordinating and communicating to deal with groups of immigrants.

"The handling of follow-up to their existence is waiting for the results of coordination with UNHCR, an international agency that manages cross-border refugees," said Syamsul.

Previously, 346 Rohingya immigrants landed in a number of areas in East Aceh Regency in early February 2024 and late October and November 2024.

Of the 346 Rohingya immigrants who landed, only 137 were left in the shelter. The temporary shelter is Seuneubok Rawang Football Field, East Peureulak, East Aceh Regency.

Meanwhile, the others fled the shelter and 10 others were transferred to Makassar, South Sulawesi, and to a shelter in Pidie Regency.

"Currently, Rohingya immigrants in temporary shelter locations in Senebok Rawang Football Field, East Peureulak, only 137 people remain. The rest fled," said Syamsul.

Regarding the alleged mastermind behind the escape of Rohingya immigrants in East Aceh, Syamsul admitted that he did not know who helped them escape from the shelter.

"It is impossible for these Rohingya immigrants to escape, if no one helps them. We will continue to monitor the presence of the remaining Rohingya immigrants in the temporary shelter," said Syamsul.
