BMKG: The Majority Of Indonesia's Territory Is Predicted To Be Rainy, Beware Of Lightning In Several Areas

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the majority of Indonesia will experience rain on Monday, January 6.

BMKG forecaster, Rira A. Damanik, explained that the intensity of rain varies from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning, depending on the area.

The potential for light rain is expected to occur in Aceh, Medan, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, and Palembang. Rain with moderate intensity is predicted to flush Tanjung Pinang and Lampung. Meanwhile, rain accompanied by lightning is expected to occur in Padang, Pekanbaru, and Bengkulu.

On the island of Java, thick cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Serang. Light rain is likely to fall in Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta, while rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in Semarang and Surabaya.

The potential for light rain is found in Denpasar and Mataram. However, people in Kupang are advised to be aware of rain accompanied by lightning.

Light rain is forecasted to flush Samarinda and Banjarmasin. Meanwhile, rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in Pontianak, Tanjung Selor, and Palangkaraya.

In the Sulawesi region, light rain is expected to occur in Gorontalo, Palu, Mamuju, Makassar, and Kendari. Rain accompanied by lightning may flush the Manado area.

Several areas in Eastern Indonesia, such as Ambon, Sorong, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya, are predicted to experience light rain. Rain with moderate intensity is predicted to occur in Nabire and Manokwari. Rain accompanied by lightning is expected to flush Ternate and Merauke.
