KPK Asked To Immediately Examine Hasto Kristiyanto To Prevent Allegations Of Politization

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was asked to immediately examine the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto after naming him as a suspect in the alleged bribery of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR RI with Harun Masiku and the obstruction of the investigation. This step is important to prevent allegations of politicization.

"For the sake of legal certainty, the KPK must summon Hasto as a suspect," said Yudi Purnomo, who is a former KPK investigator in his written statement, Monday, January 6.

Yudi said the summons also aims so that Hasto can explain his roles and actions in this case. In addition, this step is intended to prove that the anti-corruption commission has strong evidence.

"So there is no longer any reason that this case is political but because of the actions concerned based on the strong evidence that the investigator has," he said.

"The suspect needs to be examined quickly to show the public that the KPK already has strong evidence so it does not hesitate to summon the person concerned to be examined without the need to delay the protracted case," continued Yudi.

Previously reported, the KPK has named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah as PDIP cadres and lawyers as suspects in alleged bribery related to the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives. They are suspected of participating in bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to smooth Harun Masiku's steps to become a member of the council.

In addition, Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of carrying out a number of ways to make the case unfinished, one of which asked Harun to destroy his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was held.

In this case, Hasto and Donny have not been detained but have been prevented from leaving the country for six months. The same prohibition also applies to the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) of the era of President Joko Widodo, Yasonna H Laoly.
