PAN: Prabowo's Alignment To The Small People Don't Be Doubtful

Deputy Chairperson of the DPP PAN Saleh Partaonan Daulay said President Prabowo Subianto's alignment with the small people should not be doubted after deciding to increase the value added tax (VAT) only on luxury goods and services.

According to him, the Indonesian people should be grateful for their fair and prorakkyat tax policy so that all citizens have the same opportunities and access to progress.

"This must be utilized optimally. Prabowo's sensitivity and partiality to the small people need not be doubted. Therefore, do not be complacent about polemics on endless social media," Saleh said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.

According to him, President Prabowo also turned out to have prepared an economic stimulus package worth Rp. 38.6 trillion to anticipate the impact of the increase in VAT. In that package, there is rice assistance for 16 million families, a 50 percent discount on electricity rates, relief from labor-intensive industry financing, free income tax for workers who earn under Rp. 10 million, social assistance, and other subsidy assistance.

"This means that even though the 12 percent increase in VAT is only imposed on luxury goods and people who can afford it, the government is still preparing stimulus packages to protect small communities that may be affected," said the chairman of Commission VII DPR RI.

According to him, the government's policy is a decision that was taken wisely by considering social, economic and political stability, which is far from political imaging to seek popularity and publicity.

"I have high hopes for President Prabowo. If the policies favor the people based on social justice continue, Indonesia Gold 2045 is expected to materialize," he said.
