Dozens Of Police Extorting DWP Spectators Starting Today's Ethics Trial

JAKARTA - The National Police Propam began holding a series of sessions of the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) for 18 police officers who blackmail dozens of foreign nationals (WNA) from Malaysia during the 2024 Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP), today.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that the internal justice would be held at the TNCC building at the National Police Headquarters.

"Yes, that's right, in accordance with the Commitment of the National Police Leadership through the Div Propam Polri which has been submitted, has taken firm action and today starts at the ethics trial," Trunoyudo told VOI, Tuesday, December 31.

However, it did not say whether all the police would undergo an ethics trial today or not.

It is possible that the trial will be conducted in stages, where only a few will be tried internally today. While others will wait for their turn the next day.

Trunoyudo said that the ethics trial would be attended and supervised by Kompolnas as an external party. Thus, the judicial process will be transparent.

" Simultaneously and continuously, the ethics trial process is monitored by Kompolnas," said Trunoyudo.

Previously, the Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Abdul Karim, said that the police who carried out the extortion had been placed in a special place while waiting for the ethics judicial process.

"So 18 people and now we have also placed them in a special placement placed in the Propam Headquarters Div," said Karim.

Dozens of police extorted 45 foreigners from Malaysia. In addition, the National Police Propam found evidence of extortion by dozens of police officers reaching Rp2.5 billion.

"I need to clarify this as well. That the amount of evidence that we have secured is 2.5 billion rupiah. So don't let it be like the previous news, which is quite large," said Karim.
