The Dissolution Of The Ministry Of Research And Technology Does Not Interfere With The Production Of Red And White Vaccines

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo will dissolve the Ministry of Research and Technology (Kemenristek). Later, the Ministry of Research and Technology will be merged with the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).

Currently, the Ministry of Research and Technology together with the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology (LBM) are developing the Red and White vaccine. If this ministry is dissolved, will it interfere with the progress of the vaccine made in this country?

Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito emphasized that even though the Ministry of Research and Technology is no longer independent, the development of the Red and White vaccine will continue.

"The government is committed to continuing the process of developing the Red and White vaccine," said Wiku in a YouTube broadcast of BNPB Indonesia, Thursday, April 15.

Wiku said, the decision to merge these ministries had gone through various kinds of considerations and of course the decisions to be made were decisions that had the minimum losses and the greatest benefits.

After all, the development of the red and white vaccine is the result of innovation by the nation's children and is an intellectual asset for the state for long-term investment. So, the development of this vaccine is fully supported by the government.

"Because this vaccine does not only solve the problem of vaccine capacity at the national level, but also globally. Given that there are still 130 countries that have not had access to the COVID-19 vaccine at all," he said.
