Members Of The South Lampung DPRD Become Suspects In Fake Certificate Cases

LAMPUNG SELATAN The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Lampung Regional Police has named a member of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of South Lampung Regency as a suspect in the case of using fake diplomas.

The Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police, Kombes Pol. Umi Fadilah Astutik, confirmed that the determination was made regarding the use of fake diplomas in the 2024 Legislative Election contestation.

"Yes, that's right, we have named two people as suspects, namely S (50), a member of the South Lampung Regency DPRD, as a user of fake diplomas, and AS as a fake diploma publisher," said Kombes Umi, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, December 17.

The determination of the suspects against S and AS was carried out based on the results of the investigation and the title of the case by the Unit IV Sub-Directorate IV of the Tipidter Ditreskrimsus of the Lampung Police.

"The results of the case conclude that the reported S and AS, each as users and publishers of fake diplomas, can be named as suspects," he explained.

In this case, S and AS are suspected of violating Article 69 paragraph (1) and/or paragraph (2) of Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

S allegedly used a diploma issued by the Bougenvil Center for Community Learning Activities (PKBM) without going through a process in accordance with national education system regulations.

"This violation was revealed from the data on the diploma used, including the national student identification number (NISN), which turned out to belong to someone else," said Kombes Umi.

Suspect S allegedly used the fake diploma as one of the requirements for his candidacy as a member of the South Lampung Regency DPRD in the 2024 Legislative Election. He ran for the Electoral Area (Dapil) 6 which includes Tanjung Bintang, Tanjung Sari, and Merbau Mataram Districts.

"The issuance of the fake diploma was carried out by the US, and then used by suspect S to meet the administrative requirements for his candidacy," added Kombes Umi.

The Lampung Regional Police confirmed that they would immediately summon S and AS for further investigation as suspects. After that, investigators will prepare and send the case files for stage one to the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati).

"The investigation process continues, and we will ensure that the handling of this case is in accordance with applicable legal procedures," concluded Kombes Umi.
