JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Ahmad Riza Patria claimed to have asked the dki provincial government to comb all buildings in Jakarta. The goal is to map buildings that do not meet fire safety standards.

This follows fires that occurred in two Capital markets some time ago.

"I have asked the relevant agencies, agencies, SKPD to record which buildings have met security standards, prevention related to fire hazards, which have not," Riza said at Balai Kota DKI, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, April 13.

If it is found that there is a building that has not met the safety standards for potential fires, then the Provincial Government of Dki Jakarta will ask the building to fix it. This is intended to prevent fires from occurring.

"We are looking for a solution together, until the buildings in Jakarta we are in order to meet the standards are not flammable, so that the handling is fast, in all buildings," said Riza.

"We make sure, we want all buildings in Jakarta (meet safety standards). I have asked the relevant agencies to conduct an evaluation," he said.

On April 8, Pasar Lontar or Pasar Kambing, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta caught fire and burned 174 stalls. The loss reached Rp1 billion. Then, on April 12, a fire engulfed 389 stalls of Pasar Inpres Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta with losses reaching Rp2 billion.

The hope of increasing economic benefits for the high needs of citizens who buy food when entering the month of Ramadan, for traders whose trade is on fire, seems to be fading.

Chairman of DPW IKAPPI DKI Jakarta Miftahudin called the events of these two market fires an alarm for Governor Anies Baswedan to make preventive efforts so that fires no longer hit markets in the capital.

"IKAPPI encourages pd Pasar Jaya and Dki Provincial Government to make these two market fires as an alarm for the markets in DKI Jakarta to be more vigilant," said Miftahudin.

Miftahudin asked the Provincial Government of Dki Jakarta to provide a light fire extinguisher (APAR) so that traders could handle the fire early, while waiting for the handling of firefighters to arrive.

"We know that the fire in Ramadan is a heavy blow for market traders. If it is not anticipated well then it will cause considerable losses," he said.
