PDIP Urges President To Remove National Police Chief Because Central Papua Pilkada Intervention Police

The PDI-P urges President Prabowo Subianto to remove General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the National Police Chief.

The pressure arose because PDIP assessed that the National Police had intervened in the plenary trial of the district level recapitulation throughout Paniai Regency by the Regional General Election Commission (KPU) and the Paniai Regency Bawaslu.

PDIP said that members of the National Police entered the courtroom and disturbed the Pleno Recapitulation of the Calculation.

"We see that this is an attempt to thwart the plenary session in Central Papua. And we suspect that in this case the police have taken sides with one of the pairs of candidates for governor in Central Papua, so we ask the National Police Chief or the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo, to remove the Central Papua Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Alfred Papera, and also the Paniai Police Chief Kompol Deddy Agustinus Puhiri, and also the Paniai Police Head AKP. Hendry Joedo Manurung," said DPP Chairman of the National Legal Reform Division Ronny Talapessy at a press conference, Friday, December 13.

Ronny also said that the local police had criminalized the chairman of the Paniai KPUD. Ronny said this information was obtained from reports from the public in Paniai.

"We ask people in Central Papua who are PDI-P supporters to oversee this process, maintain democracy, so that this democracy is not undermined by political interests, the lust for power that is shown widely and spread on social media and in the media," explained Ronny.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the DPP for the PDIP Election Winning Division, Deddy Sitorus, said the video footage obtained by the Party showed the police clearly intervened.

PDIP considers the police to repress the vote recapitulation process at the KPUD level of Paniai Regency, Central Papua.

"We want to open our hearts and ask for attention from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, especially in order to ask for accountability from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for what happened to the vote recapitulation calculation for Central Papua Province," said Deddy.

"Where do we think this shows naked how the brutality of the officers who try to rob, thwart the results of our election," he continued.
