The Existence Of The Council Accused Of Weakening The KPK, Tumpak Hatorangan: Wrong, Instead Stronger

JAKARTA - The KPK Supervisory Board considers its existence to be wrongly accused of weakening the KPK. This organization is actually considered to strengthen because supervision of it can be carried out more optimally.

"I think it's wrong (an assumption of weakening the KPK, ed). In fact, with the existence of Dewas, the KPK has become stronger," said KPK Dewas Chairman Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean to reporters quoted from the KPK YouTube, Friday, December 13.

"Why? Because someone is monitoring, someone is supervising," he continued.

Tumpak said the anti-corruption commission did not escape errors when carrying out its main duties and functions. Thus, it is necessary to supervise to ensure that all work is in accordance with legal procedures and provisions.

"Can the KPK not be wrong, can it. Can it be wrong. Wrongful arrest? Can it. Wrong confiscation or not? Yes. So there needs to be supervision, that's necessary," said the former KPK leader volume I.

Moreover, the KPK Council is said to have no such strong authority in conducting surveillance if it investigates Law Number 19 of 2019. The proof is that there are still many recommendations that the leadership does not carry out.

Thus, Tumpak apologized to the public. "We are the five people appointed, not applying to become a Council," he said.

"This is what we can do these five years. There are many shortcomings. Please understand, apologize for all our shortcomings," concluded Tumpak.
