President Affirms Harmony Of National And State Absolute Requirements

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony between religious communities as one of the absolute requirements in the nation and state.

" Harmony is an absolute requirement for Indonesia to be a nation, state, yes," said Prabowo after inaugurating the Gathering Tunnel connecting the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church, in Jakarta, Thursday, December 12.

Prabowo assessed that the Indonesian people had lived side by side peacefully for hundreds of years, and this must be maintained and strengthened.

The community, said the President, has shown the ability to build a nation amidst the diversity of ethnicity, religion, ethnicity, and race.

All elements of the nation have made a major contribution in developing the country through a struggle full of sacrifice, both in the form of blood, sweat, and tears.

"All ethnic groups, all religions, all ethnic groups, all races have shares in this republic. Shares are paid for by blood, sweat and tears," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA.

He stressed, by maintaining peace, harmony and help, the Indonesian nation will live a peaceful and happy life.

"We maintain peace, we maintain harmony, we help each other, help each other, protect each other, our nation will succeed, will rise, and will be happy," said the President.

President Prabowo inaugurated the Gathering Tunnel connecting the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church. This tunnel is 28.3 meters long, 3 meters high, and 4.1 meters wide.

This tunnel is called the Silaturahim Tunnel because it is designed to facilitate visitors from both places of worship, the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church, so they can easily connect with each other.
