Mahfud MD Asks KPK To Cooperate In SPPTI To Prevent Kongkalikong Case Handling

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Legal And Security Politics (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to cooperate in the Database System for Handling Integrated Cases Based on Information Technology (SPPTI). It is necessary to prevent abuse of power and kongkalikong handling of the case.

"So far (SPPTI, red) has been run by the government, especially the Prosecutor's Office, police, and the Supreme Court to prevent abuse and kongkalikong," Mahfud said as quoted in his written statement, Wednesday, April 14.

The former Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) certainly appreciates the performance of the KPK in preventing corruption, providing legal counseling, and technical guidance in budget management. In fact, Mahfud was impressed by the KPK report in the last year.

However, KPK is considered necessary to see sppti which currently includes more than 212 city districts in the database of handling this case. Because, although it can only be a common crime, but in the future, this network is designed to be able to handle corruption, drugs, child crimes, and other crimes.

"Prevention and crackdown become a unit of the mandate of the Law that must be carried out kpk. And I was impressed last year kpk annual report, which managed to save the assets and wealth of the country from corruption amounting to more than Rp570 trillion," he said.

"I think this SPPTI cooperation so that the public knows where things are, so that also kpk supervision becomes easier. KPK has the authority to supervise cases that are not smooth in the Prosecutor's Office and Police, KPK is more smooth if joined," added Mahfud.

On this occasion, he also appreciated the work of kpk so far if KPK can play an important role. Mahfud said that the country has a spirit of eradicating corruption since entering the reform era.
