Said Aqil: Fasting Doesn't Just Leave Eating And Drinking

JAKARTA - Chairman of PBNU Said Aqil Sirodj said that fasting is not only to refrain from eating and drinking from dawn until sunset, but also to keep the mouth from bad words.

"I invite let's increase shiyam not only leave eating and drinking, but become shaum namely imsakil hawainnafs (preventing the invitation of lust) and prevent oral and oral from things that are not true, hoaks, spread slander, caci-maki, sheep fighting," said Said Aqil in his written statement received in Jakarta, reported antara, Tuesday, April 13.

Clean heart and soul and clear thinking, according to Said, can distance themselves from the invitation of lust that is always tempting during the worship during Ramadan.

Therefore, he invites people to celebrate Ramadan with joy with a clean heart while hoping for forgiveness and blessings from the Creator.

"Let us songsong the holy month of Ramadan with a happy heart. In this month all the sorry doors are open. Let's improve worship and multiply goodness," he said.

Said Aqil said Ramadan should be used as a spiritual momentum to purify yourself by increasing piety.

Among the ways to increase piety is by reciting the Qur'an, remembering, and worshipping solemnly. Not only that, the blessing must be filled with various useful social activities.

"Once again I remind that we are not only fasting in the sense of sharia terminology but also fasting the essence of shaumi hawainnafs. Hopefully we all get quality shaum," he said.

Previously, PBNU urged people to comply with all government decisions including guidelines during Ramadan that should break the chain of transmission of COVID-19.
