Agus Bentung Is Still Being Investigated As A Suspect At The NTB Police

The disabled person with the initials IWAS alias Agus Bentung underwent an examination as a suspect in front of investigators for Youth, Children and Women at the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the West Nusa Tenggara Police.

"Yes, today we are indeed planning to conduct an additional examination of the suspect on behalf of Agus (IWAS)," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the NTB Police, KombesSyarif Hidayat, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.

He ensured that the suspect underwent this examination with assistance from his attorney. The examination, which took place since Monday morning, is still ongoing.

"Because the lawyer (legal power) is new, we have received a letter of assistance from the new lawyer. So, the examination has not been completed, it is still ongoing," he said.

During the examination process, Syarif ensured that his party still paid attention to the fulfillment of the rights of suspects as persons with disabilities.

Regarding the status of the detention of the suspect who is in the position of house arrest, Syarif said that his party had not planned to transfer him to detention center.

"Actually, the determination of house arrests is part of our attention to the rights of suspects because we have not fulfilled the facilities for people with disabilities, so we have extended the status of house detainees within 40 days," he said.

Agus Bentung was charged with Article 6 letter c of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS).
