The General Election Commission (KPU) of Garut Regency, West Java has determined the candidate pair (paslon) Abdusy Syakur Amin-Putri Karlinaungul from other candidate pairs, based on the results of the plenary meeting to recapitulate the vote count for the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) Garut.
Head of the Garut Regency KPU Socialization, Voter Education, Community Participation and Human Resources Division, Rikeu Rahayu, said that the results of the plenary meeting of candidate pair number 2 Abdusy Syakur Amin-Putri Karlina received 915,780 votes or 66.31 percent, while the candidate pair number 1 Helmi Budiman (tahan)-Yudi Nugraha only won 465,365 votes or 33.69 percent.

He said the Garut KPU would gradually recapitulate the vote acquisition for governor-deputy governor elections, and the election for regent-deputy regents starting from polling stations (TPS) on November 27, 2024.
Furthermore, the recapitulation was carried out at the sub-district election committee (PPK) level in 42 sub-districts until finally an open plenary meeting was held to recapitulate the district-level vote acquisition held at the Santika Hotel, Thursday (5/12) morning until evening.
The results of the plenary meeting were a total of 1,419,954 valid votes with details of 1,381,145 valid votes, and 38,809 votes were invalid from the number of permanent voters (DPT) in Garut as many as 2,005,168 votes.
"The participation is 70.81 percent for the regent election, for the governor it is 70.83 percent," he said.
Meanwhile, the voter participation rate in the 2024 Garut Regency Pilkada is better than the 2018 Garut Regional Election with a voter participation rate of 69.35 percent.
However, compared to participation during the presidential election and legislative elections in 2024, said Rikeu, there was a decrease in participation from 83 percent to 70.81 percent, the cause was that many of Garut residents who were outside the city did not return home, and the location of the TPS was far away.
"If you look at the presidential election, it won't be the same, if there are many presidential candidates who go directly, many voters don't come home from their monitoring, polling stations are a bit far away," he said.
Rikeu congratulated the pair who got the most votes and became the elected regents of Garut for the 2024-2029 period to carry out their trustworthy duties.
"To the elected regents and deputy regents for the period 2024-2029, hopefully in carrying out their duties they will remain trustworthy, and can protect, and care for the welfare of the people of Garut," he said.
