JAKARTA - Hundreds of families who have been living under the Angke Toll Road, Jelambar Baru, Grogol Petamburan have begun to be relocated to a number of simple rented flats (rusunawa).

They are facilitated to live in flats for free for the first six months. Furthermore, residents will be charged a tariff of IDR 550 thousand per month for their rental fee.

There are concerns that residents will return to the toll road after the flat installment period ends because they are unable to pay the rental.

Responding to this, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Area Office, Kelik Indriyanto, said that the DKI Provincial Government would provide job training to residents who had been relocated to the flats.

"In principle, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will try its best to provide various forms of ease of access and assistance, assistance in nature such as debriefing, training, empowering the community," Kelik told reporters, Friday, December 5.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also provide direct assistance such as free Transjakarta access, subsidized low-cost food acquired every month for those in need and registered in the integrated social welfare data (DTKS).

"Hopefully the community will be able to develop themselves and have the ability and skills of entrepreneurs independently, to be able to further obtain jobs or create jobs for at least themselves," explained Kelik.

For information, there are 257 families with 685 people who previously lived under the Angke Toll Road. Of the 257 heads of families, 139 people with DKI Jakarta ID cards were recorded and have been relocated to flats.

Meanwhile, 98 families have ID cards outside Jakarta and 20 without ID cards. Families who do not have a DKI ID card are not relocated to the flats but are given a compensation fee of Rp. 1.5 million per family for two months. The DKI Provincial Government also facilitates families who want to return to their area of origin.
