Puan Says DPR Will Immediately Check The Conditions Of Disaster Victims In Sukabumi

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that her steps would go directly to the locations of flash floods and landslides in Sukabumi, West Java to accelerate coordination and synergy between agencies in providing assistance to the victims.

"Later, the DPR will make a visit there," said Puan Maharani at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, December 5.

Puan also expressed deep concern over the disaster in Sukabumi. As is known, Sukabumi Regency was hit by natural disasters in the form of floods, landslides, and ground movement in the last two days.

This incident has paralyzed the Sukabumi area and affected hundreds of thousands of residents by the blackout, as well as the widespread damage to infrastructure and people's lives.

According to Puan, the DPR will visit the disaster location led by the Deputy Chairman of the DPR Coordinator for People's Welfare, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal along with representatives from the Commission in the council in charge of disaster affairs.

"It is possible that it will be led by the leadership or deputy chairman of the Korkesra sector. Also Commission VIII to follow up and coordinate and synergize with the Government," explained Puan.

Based on BNPB information, floods hit seven areas in Sukabumi, including Ciemas, Palabuhanratu, and Gegerbitung sub-districts. In addition, landslides occurred at 14 points with the largest impact in Simpenan, Palabuhanratu, and Warungkiara sub-districts.

Land movement was reported to have occurred in 4 locations including Sukamaju Village, Cikembar District and Bantargadung Village in Bantargadung District. BNPB also received reports that 7 other villages in Sukabumi were affected by extreme weather.
