Government Reviews The Acceleration Of Execution Of The Death Penalty For Drug Prisoners

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan (BG) said the government through the Decree of Drug Eradication formed by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs reviewed the acceleration of the execution of the death penalty for drug convicts whose legal decisions have been inkrachtalias with permanent legal force.

The Dec of Drug Eradication led by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo agreed to speed up three priority steps, including reviewing the acceleration of the execution of the death penalty for drug convicts.

The three priority steps include ministries/agencies that are members of the Drug Eradication Decree who are fully committed to strengthening synergies and supporting each other's efforts to eradicate drugs.

"This synergy includes increasingly intensive coordination in preventive measures, law enforcement, rehabilitation, education, and drug eradication campaigns," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 5.

The government is sure that BG will continue to intensify the search and blocking of account funds connected to drug trafficking networks, as well as reviewing the acceleration of the execution of the death penalty for drug convicts who have received a permanent legal verdict from the court.

"(This step was taken) so that there is no more space for drug trafficking that is controlled from within the correctional institution," said Budi Gunawan.

The third priority step, the government continues to intensify education and campaigns for the dangers of drugs to the public, students, students, and various other groups through a number of platforms. The education and campaign aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of drugs, as well as prevent them from abusing the prohibited substance from an early age.

"Three of these things have been decided in a coordination meeting this time, and become a joint commitment, and will immediately be followed up by the Police, TNI, Attorney General's Office, as well as ministries/agencies that are members of the Drug Eradication Desk," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
