Closing The Session Period, Puan Alludes To The Improvement Of The Election That Is Honest And Fair

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, closed the first trial period for the 2024-2029 session through a plenary meeting held at the Parliament Complex, Thursday, December 5, today. In her speech, Puan mentioned the improvement of the implementation of the Pilkada which was honest and fair.

Puan initially expressed her appreciation for the simultaneous 2024 regional head elections (Pilkada). According to her, the 2024 Pilkada has been running smoothly and in an orderly manner.

"We just held the Pilkada on November 27, 2024. The DPR expresses its appreciation to all election organizers, starting from the Indonesian KPU, the Indonesian Bawaslu, to ranks at the provincial and district/city levels for the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections which went smoothly and orderly," said Puan.

Puan assessed that the security situation during the 2024 simultaneous regional elections was proof of the maturity of the people in democracy. Therefore, according to her, the DPR must play a role in continuing to perfect the elections in the future.

"Furthermore, it is our duty together to continue to perfect the Pilkada which truly gives sovereignty to the people in making their choices," said the chairman of the PDIP DPP.

Puan also stated that in the future the Pilkada must run freely, honestly and fairly. So he said, people can use their sovereignty freely.

"We need to perfect the Pilkada which is truly free, honest and fair and confidential, so that the people are free to use their sovereignty," concluded Puan.
