UMP Increases 6.5 Percent, Legislators Remind Implementation Supervision

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX DPR RI Netty Prasetiyani Aher positively welcomed the Government's policy of increasing the minimum wage of income (UMP) for workers by 6.5 percent. He said workers should get a decent wage.

"The increase in the UMP 2025 by 6.5 percent is the result of the UMP calculation formula which of course pays attention to inflation factors, certain indexes, economic growth, and towards the fulfillment of decent living needs," said Netty Prasetiyani, Thursday, December 5.

The increase in the UMP is stipulated through the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 16 of 2024 concerning the Determination of Minimum Wage 2025. In this regulation, the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) and the Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) 2025 increased by 6.5 percent.

The calculation formula is that this year's UMP plus the value of the 2025 UMP increase is 6.5 percent, where the increase in the provincial Minimum Wage in 2025 takes into account economic growth, inflation, and certain indexes.

Meanwhile, for the Regency/City Minimum Wage or UMK, the basis for the calculation used is UMK 2025 = UMK 2024 + UMK 2025 Increase Value. Similar to the UMP, the value of the increase in district/city Minimum Wage in 2025 is 6.5%.

Netty appreciated the Government's policy under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, which stipulated an increase in the 2025 UMP by 6.5 percent.

"This is an important step to improve workers' welfare in the midst of high cost of living. And this must be seen in terms of the Government's commitment to responding to complaints from workers in the country," said the legislator from the West Java VIII electoral district.

Not only for Prabowo, but Netty also appreciated the Minister of Manpower of Prof. Yassierli who held meaningful and constructive dialogues between the Government, employers, and trade unions in the process of determining the 2025 UMP. According to him, the discussion process between stakeholders must be prioritized so that the policies issued have accommodated all interests.

"Because the principle of tripartite should be maintained so that all parties feel accommodated, both workers who need decent wages and employers who face economic challenges," said Netty.

Apart from that, Netty emphasized the importance of the Government to carry out strict supervision in the implementation of the UMP increase in 2025. This is so that there are no violations in the application of the rules.

"Strict supervision is needed to ensure that the implementation of the UMP increase is implemented in accordance with statutory regulations, as well as to prevent potential abuse that is detrimental to one party," he concluded.
