MKD DPR Sanski Yulius Following Statement of "Parcok" Interfering in Pilkada, PDIP: Shows Hegemony of Power at Work

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto condemned the attitude of the House of Representatives Honorary Court (MKD) which imposed sanctions on members of the PDIP faction of the DPR Yulius Setiarto due to the statement "brown party" participating in the 2024 Pilkada.

In fact, according to Hasto, Yulius' words regarding the involvement of the police in intervening in the democratic process clearly occurred as found by PDIP.

"What happened in the MKD also shows how hegemony, power works. So that even members of the DPR are given reprimands by the MKD who should provide protection for every member of the DPR RI, regardless of the faction to voice the truth," said Hasto at the PDIP DPP Party School, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.

Hasto emphasized that the DPR should follow up on allegations of slashing in the 2024 Pilkada from Yulius' statement. Therefore, PDIP gave Yulius full support to continue to voice his opinion as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"We encourage Brother Yulius to never stop because every member of the DPR has the freedom to speak out, freedom, and also to be protected by the right of immunity," said Hasto.

"So we will provide advocacy, even if necessary it must also be made so that the public can know," he added.

The DPR MKD imposed a light sanction in the form of a written warning to members of the DPR PDIP faction Yulius Setiarto in today's trial. The sanction was given because Yulius was proven to have violated the code of ethics regarding his statement which stated that he was "brown party" or involved in the 2024 Pilkada.

"The Constitutional Court's decision to decide and try as follows, based on the legal and ethical considerations of the MKD, decided that the defendant Yth Yulius Setiarto SH, MH member number A234 PDIP faction was proven to have violated the code of ethics and was given a written warning sanction," said MKD Chairman Nazaruddin Dek Gam, Tuesday, December 3.

"This decision was determined in a closed MKD deliberation meeting on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 which was attended by the leadership and members of the MKD and read out at the MKD session on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 and resulted in a final and binding decision from the date of reading," he continued.

Yulius as the defendant clarified that the statement about the Chocolate Party was not an accusation. He admitted that he only wanted to ask for an explanation from the National Police Chief regarding the alleged involvement of the National Police in the 2024 Pilkada as revealed in a video broadcast by Media Tempo through the 'Bocor Alus' event.

Therefore, according to him, reports regarding him should not be processed by the MKD. Because he considered, the report filed by Ali Hakim Lubis did not have a basis as an accusation of slander.

"Regarding the violation of the code of ethics on my statement on Tik Tok social media, which according to the complainant is an accusation or slander and has no legal basis and potential evidence to the National Police institution or to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police regarding the involvement of the National Police in the 2024 Pilkada," said Yulius.
