MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police (Polda) opened a reporting service post for people who felt they were victims of harassment from a suspect with a disability with the initials IWAS.

"We opened a post for those who once felt they were victims or could also contact 081138830666," said Deputy Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police AKBP Feri Jaya Satriansyah as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 4.

He explained the basis for the police to open this reporting service post in response to a number of adult women who came to the NTB Police and claimed to be victims of IWAS.

"So, until now we have examined four victims," he said.

The chairman of the NTB Provincial Disability Commission, Joko Jumadi, previously stated that as of Tuesday (3/12), 10 people had claimed to be victims of IWAS.

The number of victims, said Joko, is outside the number of victims who are included in the police investigation process. Of the 10 victims who reported to the NTB Provincial KDD, three of them were still children.

For handling child-age victims, Joko said that his party had submitted it to the Mataram Child Protection Agency (LPA).

Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Syarif Hidayat previously also said that his party opened up space to the public in this case.

If anyone feels they are victims, he invites them to officially report them to the police.

Syarif ensured that his party would follow up on the report according to applicable legal procedures.

The NTB Regional Police handling the IWAS case, which is now in the research stage of the files by the prosecutor, is a follow-up to the victim's report with student status.

In this case, investigators obtained evidence from two victims. In addition, there is other evidence in the form of the results of the victim's post-mortem, witnesses from the victim's colleague and the suspect and the owner of an inn that became the location of the execution.

Evidence is also strengthened by information from psychologists from the Indonesian Psychology Association (HIMPSI).

In the file, investigators also describe the modus operandi of the IWAS suspect as a person with the disability of the disabled in committing immoral acts against the victim. This mode is done by relying on verbal communication that can affect the victim's psychology.

So that in the file, the investigator applies the suspicion of Article 6 letter c of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS).

While waiting for the results of the prosecutor's research, police investigators extended the detention period of the IWAS suspect in the status of house arrest within the next 40 days starting Tuesday (3/12).
