The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Riau Islands Regional Police (Kepri) arrested a man who is also a content creator.

The perpetrator is suspected of committing a criminal act related to the ITE Law, with the mode of uploading photos of TNI and Polri officials accompanied by false information against these officials.

The Director of Criminal Investigation at the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Putu Yudha Prawira, said that this crime was revealed based on the day of cyber patrol carried out by Sub-Directorate V of the Riau Islands Police Ditreskrimsus.

"When the Riau Islands Police Cyber Sub-Directorate was on patrol, it was found that one of the social media accounts posted photos of TNI and Polri officials," Putu said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 3.

The suspect was arrested with the initials RH aged 27, single from Serang, Banten. Arrested two days after cyber patrols found his upload at the end of November 2024.

Suspect RH acts as a person who manipulates data, by uploading photos of TNI-Polri officials with narratives containing incorrect information, one of which is a photo of the Riau Islands Police Chief Inspector General Yan Fitri Halimansyah.

In his upload, suspect RH contained a photo of the Riau Islands Police Chief, then wrote a description of 'Nari's future wife. I am a child widower, I work as a police officer, have 5 hectares of rice fields, 12 hectares of oil palm plantations, and 5 food shops.'

"So it's as if the information submitted in the electronic media seems to be authentic data," said Putu.

Apart from the Riau Islands Police Chief, the perpetrator also uploaded a photo of the former Deputy Chief of Police who is currently the Minister of Immigration and Corrections General Agus Andrianto, with the statement as a widow with one child.

Based on the results of the examination, the perpetrators uploaded photos of the TNI-Polri officials randomly, not even knowing the faces of the photos they uploaded. The photo is played from a post passing on the homepage of his social media.

When asked the perpetrator what the photo was, was a widower and had a rice field. So it turns out that he (the perpetrator) does not know the truth about the identity of the photo," said Putu.

The perpetrators made these uploads to increase the number of followers, comments and enthusiasts for uploads. With the aim of getting a profit from Facebook.

Even after his followers increased, the perpetrator planned to sell his Facebook account.

Head of Sub-Directorate V of the Ditreskrimsus of the Riau Islands Police, Kompol Gomak Uliate Sitompul, said that since he stopped working in a shop, the perpetrators have learned how to increase followers to earn income from social media through posts on YouTube.

The perpetrator's Facebook account initially did not have many followers, after uploading photos of TNI officials increasing to 48 thousand followers. Then after uploading photos of the Riau Islands Police Chief and other Polri officials increased to 68,000 followers.

"Before he uploaded a photo of the police chief, he uploaded a TNI official, now from the TNI official the follower is 40 thousand, now after uploading the National Police official it has increased again to 68 thousand," said Gomak.

One of the TNI officials who is used as a photocopy of the perpetrator's social media account with @RianHidayat, is a TNI official who is currently serving in Eastern Indonesia.

The perpetrators have not had time to benefit from their efforts to post photos of TNI-Polri officials either in the form of vendors or other income, because they have already been arrested.

The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, explained that the National Police has preemptive, preventive and repressive responsibilities related to cyber crimes.

"So this case started with our findings of cyber patrols, then we coordinated with the Ditreskrimsus of the Riau Islands Police, an investigation was carried out, until finally the perpetrators were arrested because of the information that polluted the good names of these officials, including affecting the community," said Pandra.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 21 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 25 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE, where the penalty is a maximum of 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 12 billion.
