Hasto Asks Police to Follow Hoegeng's Example: He is a Red and White, Not a Brown Party

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto again touched on the involvement of the National Police institution in the 2024 Regional Elections. He accused the political contestation of being destroyed by the brown party (parcok) which is moving for family and personal ambitions to come to power.

"PDI Perjuangan in this simultaneous regional election, when we questioned the phenomenon of the brown party. The phenomenon of how Jokowi should be driven by ambitions of power for the sake of family and personal interests, and then create new norms so that the Indonesian National Police which should serve the Red and White, loyal to President Prabowo Subianto in practice is often misused for practical political interests," said Hasto in a statement quoted on Monday, December 2.

"That is why we invite all Indonesian National Police officers, let's maintain the spirit of the Red and White National Police, let's maintain all the examples given, all the trust of the people, the people's mandate in upholding justice and legal order," he continued.

Hasto said that members of the National Police should imitate General Hoegeng. As a role model, this figure is very honest and makes him loved by the public.

"There is a display of how General Hoegeng is a role model, he is not a politician, he is a policeman. The Red and White Police, not brown," he said.

In the future, Hasto asked the public to continue to speak out about the existence of this brown party. The goal is to ensure that democracy is not destroyed.

"Let us maintain our independence, our sovereignty, our courage to speak, so that the Republic of Indonesia which was fought so hard by the founders of the Republic can stand firm," said the former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"And in the midst of these various problems, we express our gratitude to all Indonesian people, to all civil society, to all pro-democracy movements who still maintain common sense, dare to uphold the truth in protecting this motherland," said Hasto.

Adding to Hasto's statement, PDIP politician Deddy Yevri Hanteru Sitorus said that every member of the Police should uphold Tri Brata and Catur Prasetya. Because, the current conditions are actually the opposite and make the police not meet the public's expectations.

"The police should protect and guard the community," concluded Deddy.
