Jakarta Regional Election 2 Rounds, RK-Suswono Opportunity To Turn Things Around

JAKARTA The Executive Director of the Citra Institute, Yusak Farchan, assessed that the Ridwan Kamil and Suswono (RK-Suswono) pairs had the opportunity to turn things around and win the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada if it continued to the second round.

As is known, the second round of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada can still occur. This is because the results of quick calculations of a number of institutions show that the votes of the Pramono Anung-Rano Karno (Pramono-Rano) pair have not touched more than 50 percent of the number, although there are also survey institutions that show that the Pramono-Rano pair has exceeded 50 percent of the votes.

The results of the quick calculation of Indonesian Political Indicators found the Pramono-Rano pair earning 49.87 percent, RK-Suswono 39.53 percent and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardhana 10.61 percent of the votes. This is different from the results of the quick calculations of Charta Politica Indonesia, where Pramono-Rano has won 50.15 percent, ahead of RK-Suswono with 39.25 percent and Dharma-Kun 10.60 percent.

Yusak said the RK-Suswono political engine was not optimal in the first round of the Jakarta Pilkada. According to him, only PKS and the Golkar Party really worked hard, while the NasDem Party, PKB, Gerindra, and other political parties did not move much.

The Jakarta Pilkada electoral map in the second round could change if Joko Widodo and President Prabowo Subianto support directly, and the RK-Suswono pair were able to attract votes from Dharma-Kun supporters. Another factor that can make RK-Suswono turn things around is if they are able to boost the level of voter participation, which in the first round is only around 70 percent of the DPT.

The KPU itself has acknowledged that the participation rate in the first round of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada is still relatively low. Well, this group must be used by the RK-Suswono camp if they want to beat Pramono-Rano," he said, Sunday, December 1, 2024.

"In addition, the key is also in the endorsement of Prabowo and Jokowi which I think can exceed the influence of Anies Baswedan in the Pramono-Rano camp during the first round," continued Yusak.
