TERNATE - The Volcano Observation Post (PGA) of Dukono in North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, on Sunday morning at around 08.27 East Indonesia time erupted again by removing ashes as high as 1,200 meters above the top of the mountain.

"Yes, it is true that there was an eruption this morning by removing the ash which was observed approximately 1,200 meters above the top of Mount Dukono," said PGA Dukono Post Officer, Bambang Sugiono in a written statement monitored from Ternate.

The ash column observed was white to gray with thick intensity leaning towards the Northwest. He said this eruption was recorded on a seismogram with an amplitude of 20 mm and a duration of 276.93 seconds from the PGA Dukono Post located in Mamuya Village, Galela District.

"Currently, Mount Dukono is still at Level II or Alert Status," he said

Therefore, the public or visitors and tourists are asked not to move within a three-kilometer radius of the mountain crater.

"They are prohibited or approaching the Maupang Warirang Crater within a three-kilometer radius," he hoped.

He explained that currently, considering that eruptions with volcanic ash periodically occur and the distribution of ash follows the direction and speed of the wind, so that the runway area of the ashes does not remain.

"People around Dukono Volcano always provide masks and glasses to be used when carrying out activities outside the home, in order to avoid exposure to the dangers of volcanic ash," he said.
