JAKARTA - KAI Commuter is committed to taking firm action and not to tolerate perpetrators of criminal acts and immoral acts, which occur in the Commuter Line or KRL. As an effort to prevent the incident from happening again, now KAI Commuter has blacklisted it.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Joni Martinus explained that the blacklist was carried out against the perpetrators by inserting their facial recordings or sketches into the Analytic CCTV system to prevent the perpetrators from using the Commuter Line.
"This step is also applied to the perpetrators of immoral acts that occurred at Pondok Ranji Station on Thursday, November 20, 2024," he said in an official statement, Saturday, November 30.
Based on the report from the victim, continued Joni, the perpetrator who was in the Commuter Line Rangkasbitung No. 1665 Parung Panjang-Tanah Abang relation, was taken to the station and taken to the Security Post for further investigation.
Joni also said that KAI Commuter officers immediately carried out the process of inserting a sketch of the perpetrator's face into the CCTV Analytic system database.
"With this process, the system will analyze facial recordings or other data to verify the identity of the perpetrator and provide notifications to security officers, both at the station and inside the train, if the perpetrator tries to get back on the Commuter Line," he said.
Joni explained that the CCTV Analytic system is an innovation from KAI Commuter to maintain user safety and comfort. This system can record the faces of all users who enter the station and convert them into databases for further identification.
"KAI Commuter has operated this system at all Commuter Line stations in the Jabodetabek and Yogyakarta areas," he explained.
Not only technology that is always upgraded, KAI Commuter also conducts socialization of 'Anti Harassment and Sexual Violence' in regular collaboration with stakeholders including the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA), the Kalyanamitra Institute, influencers and communities throughout the KAI Commuter operas region.
"This socialization aims to invite commuter line users to dare to Speak Up, if they see or experience acts of sexual harassment. Immediately report it to the officer and we are ready to help," he said.
In addition, KAI Commuter also has Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for handling criminal acts and immoral acts either on the train or at the station.
"We are also collaborating with the police as a follow-up," said Joni.
Based on data compiled for acts of sexual harassment this year, from January to October there were 57 cases either from direct reports or through social media. Of that number, 50 of them were continued to the police.
The rest of the victims chose to make peace because of various considerations. Even so, KAI Commuter still imposes sanctions on the perpetrators in the form of a ban on using Commuter Line services forever.

In addition to accompanying the victim to make a report to the police, he also helps by cooperating with competent institutions to get trauma healing so that the victim can get a post-event recovery.
"We take firm action against the perpetrators and side with the victim. So, even if the victim chooses peace, we will still take necessary steps. Among other things, we include all the identities of the perpetrators in the Analytic CCTV base data so that these perpetrators who have been registered will never be able to enter the station or use the train," said Joni.
"If any of these perpetrators still insists on entering, we will make sure they will be caught because this Analytic CCTV technology is able to detect faces even though they are covered with masks," he continued.
