JAKARTA - Russia for the first time showcased the export option of Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jets abroad in the 2024 China Airshow in Zhuhai City which was held 12-17 last November.

"Su-57 is the only fifth generation fighter jet that has confirmed its breakthrough characteristics in all combat options. This fighter jet is distinguished by its high defensive capability due to its low marking and modern onboard defense complex. The aircraft will continue to be upgraded according to combat experience. Su-57 together with Su-34 and Su-35S are the wings of our victory. I believe the debut of the Su-57 export option in Zhuhai will be properly assessed by foreign colleagues," explained Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov, quoted from TASS November 27.

The fifth-generation multi-role fighter jet Su-57 is designed to destroy all air, ground and water surface targets, monitoring airspace at very far from the base of placement, leaving enemy headquarters, command posts, and control systems out of operation.

The Sukhoi Su-57 is claimed to be able to deal with various guided and unguided weapons, including short, medium and long-range air-to-air missiles, 250, 500 and 1500 kg of smart bombs (the last of the outer suspension), with a maximum fighting charge of 10 tons.

The stealth characteristics of this aircraft are driven by a form of construction, as well as coating material that reflects and absorbs and electronic warfare facilities.

Some weapons are hidden in the plane to reduce signatures. This reduces the signal that is reflected and deflected from the source. The enemy's radar does not receive any information about the location and speed of the aircraft. Low tagging in the optical band is ensured by the aircraft's digital camouflage painting (pixels).

In addition, the AI Su-57 system helps with several pilot tasks, including flying planes and preparing weapons for use.

Separately, test pilot who is also the holder of the Russian Hero Sergey Bogdan said the Su-57 was an aerodynamic miracle, with a strong thrust and ability to carry out difficult maneuvers smoothly.

"The plane has been refined in terms of aerodynamics and maneuverability. Regarding how it handles it, it imitates jets in the 4++ series, which includes Su-30SM and Su-35 aircraft. Aircraft control systems are mostly the same here, the only difference is that this aircraft has more control panels. However, the characteristics of its moments are better for piloting," he explained at the aerospace exhibition in Guangdong Province.

Furthermore, Bogdan points to Su-57's strong thrust capacity. According to him, when maneuvering known as a taillide, where the plane stands on its tail for almost half a minute, its thrust capacity is strong enough to prevent it from falling backward.

"We are doing some new maneuvers with this aircraft. In particular, the ups and downs that are circling. This one is very difficult. In fact, many planes with thrust vectors will be able to do it, but the thrust-weight ratio is better here, which is an advantage," said the pilot.

Bogdan himself claims the Su-57 surpassed all its competitors in the world, including China's newest J-35 fighter jet which was also exhibited at the exhibition.

"We never miss. We created our own weapons to fight some competitors and always have certain temporal reserves. We consider many things. Our aircraft always has a competitive advantage. In my opinion, Su-57's fifth-generation aircraft is superior to all in the world. Regarding China's newest J-35 aircraft exhibited, at the aerospace exhibition you can only see general aerodynamic parameters. In terms of maneuverability, stability, and control, our competitors and rivals do not show everything. But in terms of what has been shown, Russian aircraft are always slightly superior, "said Bogdan.
