Free School Budget And KJP In 2025 IDR 2.3 Trillion

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the DKI Jakarta DPRD have agreed on the amount of the free school budget and the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus in the 2025 APBD, which is IDR 2.3 trillion.

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Khoirudin, said that the budget would be channeled for the implementation of the new academic year 2025/2026.

Khoirudin said the government was pursuing regulations and technical implementation so that the free school program could run in the middle of next year.

"This is state money, we are stepping up, but there must be certainty of regulations first, what takes time is the preparation of regulations, the funds are ready. And we have also agreed with the executive, and there are no problems," Khoirudin told reporters, Friday, November 29.

Later, the distribution of KJP will be part of the free school program. Given that the tuition fee for the school has been free, the KJP will be sufficient for the purchase of school needs.

"Now the school is free. So the KJP is there, only to buy shoes, pants, clothes, training, t-shirts, hats, and ties. School equipment, because the money that can be received has been put into the school for free," said Khoirudin.

Previously, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi, emphasized that the free private school program implemented in the 2025/2026 school year would not use a budget transferred from the KJP.

Teguh ensured that free schools would be run without removing the KJP program, which is an educational assistance for underprivileged students.

"The strategic issue in the preparation of the 2025 FY APBD is the implementation of free private schools by not eliminating the provision of KJP social assistance (Jakartu Jakarta Pintar)," said Teguh, Friday, November 15.

Some time ago, there was a discourse that the free school budget would be taken from the KJP distribution budget. However, the DPRD wants KJP to continue to be distributed when free schools are implemented, considering that the educational assistance program is still very much needed by students from groups of people who cannot afford it. Finally, it was agreed that the KJP budget would not be removed when free schools were implemented.
