Cheap Food Package Redemption Coordinator Says Fraudster Claims to be a Party Member

JAKARTA - A fraud case involving cheap basic food packages has harmed dozens of residents of Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta. Residents were promised cheap basic food packages by a perpetrator who claimed to be from a political party.

"They said there was a boss directly, yes, they said he was from a political party," said Watini, who is the coordinator for cheap basic food packages in her neighborhood, Sawah Besar, Tuesday, November 26.

However, when Watini tried to re-check the cheap basic food packages, the basic food agent's number was no longer active.

"I can't, the number is also no longer active," she said.

In this case, Watini claimed to be the coordinator for residents who wanted to redeem cheap basic food packages in her neighborhood. Due to this fraud, Watini actually got hit hard.

"I was chased by residents, they only knew it was me. They wanted the basic food packages, or their money back. The residents thought the money was with me, they didn't know that I was also a victim. It's sad, sir, really. I couldn't eat for a week," she said.

Apart from receiving insults from the public, Watini also received curses from other residents.

"They even swore at me, some said I should be jailed. Whatever, I put my body up, it's okay, I'm sincere, it's true," she said.

Watini admitted that she did not have any job, while her husband was also a casual worker.

"I'm always terrorized by residents," she said.

Watini, who is the coordinator of the cheap basic food packages, said that she was not the only coordinator. There were other cheap basic food package coordinators who were also harmed by the actions of the perpetrator with the initial R.

In fact, each of the other coordinators had deposited cheap basic food package money to the perpetrator ranging from IDR 20 to IDR 100 million.

Watini and the victims hope that the Central Jakarta Metro Police will immediately arrest the perpetrator.

Previously reported, the victims of cheap basic food package fraud that occurred in the Sawah Besar area were increasing.

This time, several other victims reported the fraud incident to the Central Jakarta Metro Police on Monday, November 25.
