Puan: Hero Teacher Of Pelita's Prosperous Care For The Future Of The Nation

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, hopes that the commemoration of National Teacher's Day (HGN) 2024 will be a moment to improve the quality of education in the country. He said teachers are at the forefront of educating the nation's life.

"Happy Teacher's Day to the nation's heroes who always maintain the pillars of Indonesia's future. Teachers have a strategic role in realizing equitable quality education to remote parts of the country," said Puan, Monday (11/25/2024).

Puan requested that the HGN which is commemorated every November 25 is not only used as a ceremony.

"HGN is not just giving congratulations, but also an opportunity to reflect on the challenges and hopes in the world of education," said the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.

"Let's rethink how important the position of teachers is in an effort to create a quality education system that can be accessed by all levels of society," continued Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture emphasized that every child has the right to receive proper education, regardless of economic or geographical background. He said that the Indonesian people must have an Inclusive education and be able to reach all children, including those with special needs.

"We need to encourage teachers to adopt various teaching methods, so that all students can learn in the most appropriate way for them," he said.

Puan also appealed to all parties to unite in creating an educational system that supports diversity and inclusiveness. He also encouraged the Government to improve the welfare of teachers to be better able to provide quality teaching.

"The welfare of teachers must be a priority, because they are the main pillar in education. We cannot separate the welfare and quality of teaching," said Puan.

Furthermore, Puan asked the Government to seek concrete steps to increase salaries, training, and allowances for teachers, especially in remote areas. To do this, he considered that collaboration between stakeholders was very necessary.

"We need to build a synergistic collaboration between all stakeholders. Together, we can create innovations and solutions that are needed to improve the quality of education," said Puan.

In line with the theme of HGN 2024, namely Teacher Great, Strong Indonesia', Puan encourages teachers to continue to try to make the best contribution to the world of Indonesian education.

"Increase the quality and character of educators, and build the best competence to support the duties and obligations of teaching staff. Great teachers will certainly succeed in producing superior human resources (HR) which are the ideals of Indonesia Emas," said Bung Karno's grandson.

On the commemoration of Teacher's Day 2024, Puan also invited the entire community to pay appropriate respects to teachers by supporting pro-student and pro-student education policies. This is needed in order to realize quality and equitable education for all children of the nation.

"Hopefully we can all continue to strive to support educators in carrying out their noble duties," concluded Puan.
