JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Hasbiallah Ilyas, denied that he called the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) hand arrest operation (OTT) a village agenda.

He explained that the statement that had been made was a joke and misinterpreted.

"There was a misunderstanding in reading my statement. I mean, what I conveyed was that my prima donna was prevention, it didn't mean I didn't want (OTT), it didn't mean I didn't agree with the arrest, I agreed, at the beginning I said I agreed," said Hasbiallah in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.

He explained that the public and stakeholders were asked to see the video of the statement that had been made correctly.

In a sense, continued Hasbiallah, the statement stated that if the OTT had a process, there were indications. So don't let the state's money go away and then take action.

"What I have known so far is that what I have observed has been received for the second time or the third time he has been arrested. Why hasn't there been any indication from the start, be warned, so that no state money has been lost," he said.

The board member considered that the KPK could anticipate if there were indications of officials committing violations. This is because the anti-corruption agency has sophisticated tools to detect indications of violations.

"Because the KPK has very sophisticated tools and expensive state costs, why not detect them from the start?" he said.

During a fit and proper test at the KPK Dewas, at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, last Wednesday (20/11), Hasbiallah Ilyas made a statement that the hand arrest operation (OTT) carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission was an act of the village.

In fact, the PKB politician assessed that OTT activities were actually detrimental to state finances.
