JAKARTA The typing indicator is one of the important features on WhatsApp that can signal other users someone is typing their replies in the chat room.

Over the years, this feature has not changed and the function of its features remains the same. Both in private and group chat rooms, WhatsApp will show a typing indicator at the top of the screen, precisely in the username or group display.

However, based on WABetaInfo's findings some time ago, this typing indicator will be moved to the chat room. Similar to the typing indicator on Instagram, the signal that the user is typing will be displayed in the chat room.

In a private chat room, the typing indicator looks like three dots in a row that is wavy in the message bubble. The appearance in the group chat room is almost the same, but with additional photos of the user profile next to the message bubble.

Apparently, this feature is being launched by WhatsApp because a number of WhatsApp users on X, formerly known as Twitter, said they were starting to see this change/

For now, the new typing indicator update has just rolled out the beta version, not in the stable release version. Therefore, not many see this change. It is not known when WhatsApp will release it to all users.

In beta too, the majority of registered users say they are using Android phones. The iOS device also got this change, but only a small part of the users.
