JAKARTA - Israeli airstrikes targeted the city center of Beirut, Lebanon in the early hours of Saturday.

Several powerful explosions rocked Beirut at around 4 am, Reuters witnesses said. Four rockets were fired in the attack, security sources said.

Reported by Reuters on Saturday, November 23, sirens were heard as ambulances drove to the blast site in the Basta neighborhood, Beirut.

Footage broadcast by Al Jadeed in Lebanon showed one building destroyed and several other buildings badly damaged in the vicinity.

This marks Israel's fourth air strike this week targeting Beirut's central region.

On Sunday, Israeli airstrikes killed a senior Hezbollah media official in the district of Ras al-Nabaa.

Israel launched a massive offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon in September, after nearly a year of cross-border hostilities sparked by the Gaza war, hitting large parts of Lebanon by airstrikes and sending troops south.
