DPR Please Elected KPK Councils Don't Just Supervise Without Internal Corrections

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Ahmad Sahroni hopes that the KPK Supervisory Board, elected for the 2024-2029 period, will not only supervise but also make corrections to the KPK's internal and leadership.

Currently, 10 Prospective KPK Councils are undergoing a fit and proper test at Commission III of the DPR. The election and determination of the KPK's Capim and the KPK's Prospective Council will be held Thursday, November 21, tomorrow.

Sahroni said that the five elected KPK leaders and five KPK Councils are expected to have integrity to improve their institutions. The Council itself, according to him, must be part of the supervisor rather than the leadership of the KPK and its devices.

"We hope that later the 10 candidates for the Council will remain concerned about the supervision of the leadership and the KPK and below it really has strong independence," said Sahroni at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20.

"So don't let the supervisor only see and don't correct what's happening inside the KPK itself," he continued.

The NasDem legislator for the Jakarta electoral district also hopes that the KPK Council will have firm stance on the rules that are still unclear. The reason is, there are sectoral ego factors between the KPK Council and the KPK leadership for the 2019-2024 period.

"Well, the supervisor must also have strong integrity. Don't just supervise tok, but don't want to carry out surveillance that has standard rules. This is just a shadow, what to do," he said.

Sahroni reminded that the supervisory function is to monitor deficiencies that really need to be improved.

"In the end, I just said earlier, do not be lobbied by groups that target people or arrest people in certain interests," he concluded.
