JAKARTA - Hundreds of people who are members of the Indonesian Youth Activists Association (HAPI) stormed the office of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI) in the Sawah Besar area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20, afternoon.

This action was the aftermath of a transgender celebrity named Isa Zega who performed Umrah by wearing a syar'i hijab which was alleged to have blasphemed religion.

The crowd came with a number of props such as banners that read "The Ministry of Religion is missed, religion and the state are harassed".

"Check and revoke the travel business license that dispatched Umrah Isa Zega alias Sahrul who is suspected of insulting religion".

In addition to carrying banners, the mass of action also carried a number of red and white flags. They oriented in front of the gate fence of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion's office.

"Recently, there has been a lot of discussion regarding a transgender who performs Umrah in Muslim women's clothing while she is actually a man. This proves that MUI and the Ministry of Religion have missed," said action coordinator M Happy to reporters, Wednesday, November 20.

In his statement, the orator said that in Islamic law, including those fatwa by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), male even though her gender was changed, that she was automatically still a man. Therefore, in carrying out the process, one must still use the ways of a man.

"We hope that there will be law enforcement, the police, and ask the police to immediately arrest the online mother alias Isa Zega alias Sahrul so that in the future there will be no other transgender trying to harass Islam to just show off or exist in online media," he said.

"We urge the Indonesian government not to encourage the behavior of Isa Zega, so that it does not become an example for the community, especially transgender groups that have the potential to harass religion and state," he said.

This demonstration was the aftermath of a transgender celebrity named Isa Zega who carried out Umrah wearing a hijab. This action further sparked public anger.

Isa Zega is suspected of having insulted Islam because performing Umrah is not in accordance with his nature as a man.

Isa Zega also underwent Umrah in syar'i clothes complete with hijab and cadres. In addition to fueling public anger, Isa Zega also ignited anger from members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and a number of artists.
