Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai Tightly Guarded by Authorities Following Inter-District Brawl

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Metro Police together with the East Jakarta Satpol PP have tightened security on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai to anticipate further brawls in the area.

"We will guard the area," said Head of Operations for the East Jakarta Metro Police (Jaktim) Commissioner (AKBP) Rachmat Eko Mulyadi after attending the Coordination Meeting for Handling Brawls at the East Jakarta Mayor's Office, Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

In this area (I Gusti Ngurah Rai) there are three Polsek involved because it is a border area between Duren Sawit, Pulogadung and Jatinegara.

According to him, his party together with the East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) which is part of the East Jakarta City Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimko) are looking for a solution to resolve the brawl case on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai (Kebon Singkong).

"This is still not final, the activity plans. Later there might be a more technical meeting, more technical initiated by the Mayor of East Jakarta," said Eko.

Head of East Jakarta Satpol PP Budhy Novian added that the technical meeting would involve a number of government institutions related to drugs such as BPOM, the City National Narcotics Agency (BNNK) in drug abuse cases.

Meanwhile, the Police and Municipal Police (Satpol PP) as well as the Population and Civil Registration Sub-Department (Sudin) are related to population.

This was done considering that the perpetrators of the brawl were suspected of using alcoholic drinks and drug abuse when carrying out their actions.

"For short-term anticipation that can be done is the involvement of all potential communities and also sub-district government officials, urban villages and Satpol PP

"Including other regional work units (UKPD) to be able to take turns guarding the station at the location points that have currently been mapped, such as on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai and Jalan Basuki Rahmat (Bassura)," said Budhy.

The number of Satpol PP personnel who will be deployed is 70 people along with two other pillars, namely the Police and TNI.

"We will be on duty together with the three pillars of the police (polres-polsek) and TNI (Kodim-Koramil)," said Budhy.

The coordination meeting was held following a brawl between residents of Kebon Singkong, Duren Sawit and residents of Cipinang Jagal, Pulogadung, on Monday night (18/11).

In fact, a similar action occurred on Sunday (10/11) which caused a teenager to die after being hit by a train.
