Inter-District Brawls In East Jakarta Become City Level Discussions

JAKARTA - A brawl on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai between a group of residents of Kebon Singkong, Duren Sawit District and residents of Cipinang Jagal, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta, has become a discussion at the city level.

East Jakarta Metro Police and East Jakarta Satpol PP will tighten security at the location of the Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai brawl, Duren Sawit.

Head of East Jakarta Metro Police Ops AKBP Rachmat Eko Mulyadi said his party would guard the area.

"In this area (I Gusti Ngurah Rai) there are three Polsek involved because it is a border area between Duren Sawit, Pulogadung and Jatinegara," he told reporters, Tuesday, November 19.

According to him, his party together with the East Jakarta City Government who are members of the East Jakarta City Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimko) are looking for a solution to the settlement of the brawl case on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai (Kebon Singkong).

"Yes, it's still not final, yes, the activities are planned. Later there may be more technical meetings, more technical ones initiated by the Mayor of East Jakarta," he said.

East Jakarta Satpol PP Head Budhy Novian said the technical meeting would involve a number of government institutions related to drugs such as BPOM, BNNK in cases of drug abuse, police officers, Dukcapil Sub-Department related to population, and Satpol PP.

This was done considering that the perpetrators of the brawl were allegedly consuming alcoholic beverages and drug abuse when carrying out their actions.

"To anticipate in the short term what is possible to carry out is the involvement of all potential communities and also sub-district government officials, sub-districts, Satpol PP including other regional work units (UKPD) to be able to take turns guarding the stationary at the location points that have now been mapped, such as on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai and Jalan Basuki Rahmat (Bassura)," he said.

The number of Satpol PP personnel to be deployed is 70 people along with two other pillars, namely the police and the TNI.

"We will picket together with three pillars from the police (polres-polsek) and the TNI (Kodim-Koramil)," he said.

As is known, the brawl on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai took place on Monday, November 18, evening. One gate in the RW 01 area of Klender Village, Duren Sawit, caught fire. Meanwhile, the anti-battle post in the area was also destroyed by the masses.

The brawl also took place on Sunday, November 10, last. One person from a resident of Cipinang Jagal died as a result of being hit by a train during a brawl.
