The National Police Chief Ensures That 3 Perpetrators Of The Stabbing In Sampang Have Been Arrested

SURABAYA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the three perpetrators of the stabbing of supporters of the Sampang Regent candidate who had been arrested.

"The last check from the Police Chief said that three have been secured and I think the Sampang Police in backup by the Regional Police will continue to carry out the development completely," said Sigit at the East Java Police Headquarters, Surabaya, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 19.

The National Police Chief advised all parties to take care of themselves in the process of voting for the Regional Head Election which will soon take place. Sigit said that every candidate pair who will compete are friends or relatives.

"The Pilkada process will soon run, please (the Sampang case) will become an incident that will not happen again. Because those who compete, those who face off, who are the candidate pairs are actually from our friends, our friends," he said.

The National Police Chief invites all parties to support the implementation of good elections, constructive elections, so that later elected candidates for leaders, especially at the regional level, can carry out what is the mandate of the people.

The police have made the final preparations for the simultaneous regional elections, especially in the East Java region.

"We carry out direct checks related to the readiness of the command center, including we communicate with the Sampang Police Chief regarding the current situation. Then proceed with inspection of troops with the commander-in-chief to ensure the readiness of security personnel that we will deploy at the TPS," he said.

It is known, the video of the stabbing incident went viral on the WhatsApp network and other social media platforms. The video clip depicts many men holding sickles in a position ready to attack.

The incident was seen happening in an area surrounded by houses. The video was recorded by residents from inside and on the terrace of the house. From the video, a woman's voice was heard crying, asking her family members not to join in.

In another video clip, a man in an orange circle, in a blue shirt, and with a white skullcap is seen lying on the ground. Wounds like stab wounds with sharp weapons gaping in his thigh.

The head was also bleeding. Two men holding the poor man, tried to help. Reportedly, 1 person died in the incident.

The Sampang Pilkada was followed by two candidate pairs. Namely candidate pair Cabup-Cawabup number 01 KH Muhammad bin Mu'afi-H Abdullah Hidayat (Manjat) and candidate pair cabup-cawabup number 02 Slamet Junaidi-Ahmad Mahfudz (Jimad Saktah).
