Jambi Police Confiscate IDR 7.7 Billion Of Drugs From Couriers From South Sumatra

Jambi Police's Narcotics Directorate confiscated evidence of 4.99 kilograms of methamphetamine and 4,582 ecstasy pills with a value of Rp7.7 billion from a courier from South Sumatra.

Director of the Narcotics Directorate of the Jambi Police, AKBP80 Seiser, said that the disclosure of this case began with an investigation conducted by personnel since last September.

The personnel arrested the drug courier with the initials DP from South Sumatra on Saturday night (9/11) in Batanghari Regency after picking up drugs in Jambi City.

From the information obtained, the suspect DP was assigned by a person with the initials I who is currently a DPO to collect narcotics in Jambi.

The narcotics will then be brought back to Palembang, South Sumatra, but while on the way the police arrested the suspect in the DP along with evidence.

"After the goods were taken in Jambi, the plan was to bring them back to Palembang in Batanghari, the courier was secured along with the evidence," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 19.

The suspect, who brought the narcotics, used a motorbike and carried a bag containing narcotics. The courier received Rp7 million in wages from work to pick up and deliver narcotics.

Personnel found three plastic packs that read 99 orange durians containing clear crystalline powder suspected of being methamphetamine.

In addition, he also found plastic with Chinese tea and clear plastic containing 4,582 ecstasy pills.

The value of the methamphetamine is estimated at Rp6.48 billion while ecstasy reaches Rp1.23 billion. The total estimated value of the narcotics reached Rp7.7 billion.

The police suspect that the methamphetamine and ecstasy came from abroad because they saw a pack of methamphetamine that read 99 durian and green Chinese tea.

"We suspect this is from abroad," he said.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Law 35 of 2009 Article 112 paragraph 2 and Article 114 paragraph 2 with the threat of imprisonment for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years or the death penalty.
