JAKARTA - Prospective KPK leader Johanis Tanak assessed the need for a presidential regulation (Perpres) to regulate the prevention of corruption (tipikor). Because according to him, the Corruption Act is not regulated how the KPK prevents corruption.

This was conveyed by Johanis during a fit and proper test at Commission III of the DPR, Tuesday, November 19.

"The Law on Corruption is regulated regarding the eradication of corruption, there are 2 ways, namely prevention and prosecution. However, if we look at the law, there is not a single article that regulates how we can prevent the eradication of criminal acts of corruption. What is regulated is only how we take action against criminal acts of corruption," said Johanis.

Johanis explained that the formulation of articles contained in the Anti-Corruption Law, in general, states that a person committing an act that is against the law and detrimental to state finances can be prosecuted according to law.

"Yes, at least there are those who regulate 1 year, 2 years, 5 years there is up to a maximum sentence of death and life imprisonment," he said.

Johanis then divided the corruption prevention efforts into three aspects.

First, make an inventory of the factors that cause criminal acts of corruption. Second, include in the Presidential Decree. Third, socialization to state and community administrators.

"Then in the long-term prevention, I tried to translate to make a book on corruption eradication starting from kindergarten, elementary, junior high, to college in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, so that in the long term towards Indonesia Gold 2045 we hope it will be zero corruption," said Johanis.

"Because we have educated our younger generation to then know what corruption says," he added.

Therefore, Johanis suggested two things related to corruption prevention. Namely with a Presidential Decree and law enforcement with integrity.

"It is necessary for the Presidential Decree to prevent corruption. Second, law enforcement officers with integrity are needed," he said.
