Puan Maharani Inaugurates Taufiq Kiemas Airport In Lampung

JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani inaugurated the name change of Pekonserai Airport to Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport in West Coast Regency, Lampung.

"As the son of the late Mr. Taufiq Kiemas, I represent the family to thank all those who have proposed and supported so that the name of our parents is pinned to the name of this airport", Puan was quoted as saying by Antara, Saturday, April 10.

Puan hopes that the airport operation can improve the welfare of the surrounding community.

Puan expressed the saying when a man is called by Allah ALMIGHTY, then he will leave his "name" on earth.

"Alhamdulillah the name of Mr. Taufiq Kiemas that he left behind is a fragrant name, a respected name, a proud name for us his family as well as for the Indonesian people", he said.

Puan said, Taufiq Kiemas is a former Chairman of the MPR and known as a statesman who is persistent in maintaining the Indonesian constitution and can unite all elements of the nation.

He said, Taufiq Kiemas also continues to promote national harmony and always reminds the importance of maintaining and implementing Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

"I hope this airport now bears the name of the late Mr. Taufiq Kiemas, so this airport plays a role in maintaining the national spirit of the deceased", said Puan.

Another national spirit of Mr. Taufiq Kiemas, said Puan, is to improve the welfare of the community. That he hopes can be realized through the newly inaugurated airport change of name.

Therefore, Puan advised that Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport is kept clean, maintained its operations, so that it can continue to be the pride of all.

"Because this airport becomes one of the main gateways for people coming to the West Coast. Make it easier for tourists to come here, and will drive the local economy and generate MSMEs", he said.
