Ketapang Laok Case, East Java Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Stabbing Supporters Of Sampang Cabup

The East Java Regional Police arrested one of the perpetrators of the stabbing of supporters of the candidate regent of Sampang, Madura, in an incident that occurred on November 17.

"Alhamdulillah, we have arrested one suspect with the initials FS. And hopefully with the arrest of one suspect, it can be quickly developed to another suspect," said East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto at the Sampang Police Headquarters as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 18.

Currently, the suspect is being held at the East Java Police Headquarters and his party will continue to develop investigations to reveal other suspects.

"Therefore, I also ask for prayers from colleagues and the community in Sampang Regency, hopefully we can catch other perpetrators, we will process them, and we will enforce the law as fairly as possible," said the regional police chief.

He emphasized that the handling of the 'Ketapang Laok Incident' case was deliberately taken over by the East Java Regional Police. The goal is for the Sampang Police to focus more on securing the pilkada stage.

The stabbing case by a group of people happened to supporters of the Candidate for the Regent of Sampang Slamet Junaidi-Achmad Machfudz (Sakteh) couple named Jimmy Sugito Putra, a resident of Ketapang Laok Village, Ketapang District, Sampang Regency.

Jimmy is a witness from the candidate pair for the Regent Slamet Junaidi-Achmad Mahfudz (Saktah), as stated by the Head of the Winning Team for the Candidate Pair of Certificates, Surya Noviantoro, Sunday (17/11) night.

The bloody incident occurred after the candidate for Regent Slamet Junaidi visited one of the religious leaders in Ketapang and was confronted by a mob armed with sickles, but managed to escape through another road.

Furthermore, the interlocutors entered the area where Slamet Junaidi visited. A number of these people had an argument, until finally there was persecution.

In the simultaneous regional elections which will be held on November 27, 2024, the person concerned supports the Candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent of Sampang number 2, namely 'Snotah' and appointed as witnesses.

The victim was rushed to Ketapang Hospital but his soul could not be saved because he was bleeding actively, due to the sharp weapon on his face, back, and hands. At 17.15 WIB, Sunday (17/11) the victim died.
