Suburban Workspace Becomes RK's Strategy to Reduce Pollution in Jakarta

JAKARTA – Jakarta gubernatorial candidate number 1, Ridwan Kamil, admitted that he has his own strategy to reduce pollution and public mobility in Jakarta. RK promised to increase workspaces on the outskirts of Jakarta.

“We will increase workspaces on the outskirts of the city, so that there are alternatives for residents to live, work, and recreate in close proximity. That will reduce movement which will also reduce pollution,” he said in the Third Debate of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The former Governor of West Java also emphasized that tree planting is still needed to overcome the problem of pollution in Jakarta. RK even conveyed the commitment of the RIDO pair to lower the average temperature by two degrees in order to reduce pollution levels.

“Tree planting will not only be carried out on the side of the road, but will also be carried out on top of office buildings in Jakarta. So that the greenhouse gas effect can be reduced. Why is it hot, why is it polluted? Most buildings, most of them are concrete, lack trees. Well, this is later in the 1 billion 1 RW budget, some of the greening will be carried out simultaneously by 2700 RW,” explained RK.

As is known, the Third Debate of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada had the theme of Urban Environment and Climate Change. This debate was attended by three candidate pairs, namely candidate pair number 1, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, candidate pair number 2, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana and candidate pair number 3, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno.
