The City Government of Depok Allows Tarawih Prayer At Mosque

DEPOK - The City Government of Depok, West Java allows the implementation of tarawih prayers in mosques.

This decision is stated in the Mayor's Circular Letter (SE) Number 451/171-Huk concerning the Implementation of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1442 H/2021 during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

"The implementation of tarawih prayer can be done in the mosque or Islamic Prayer Room by paying attention to several provisions. Among other things, the number of worshipers is at most 50 percent of the capacity of places of worship", Depok mayor Mohammad Idris was quoted as saying by Antara, Friday, April 9.

The circular also explains that the congregation is a local citizen who can be identified as having health status, not still in the positive status of COVID-19. While tarawih prayer lectures maximum for 10 minutes and recitation of letters in tarawih prayer should use short letters or other verses maximum three verses.

Furthermore, tilawah or tadarus Al-Quran activities are carried out on a limited basis, by implementing strict health protocols, and held maximum until 21.00 WIB. For iftar events together in government institutions, private institutions, mosques, Islamic Prayer Room, and other places are abolished.

Also, nuzulul Al-Quran commemorations are carried out on a limited basis, with strict health protocols. Meanwhile, tarawih prayers and roving takbiran (the night of the last day of Ramadhan) were abolished.

While the implementation of itikaf (pray) and Eid prayers will be determined later after considering the development of COVID-19 cases in Depok and will adjust to the policies of the central government and or the government of West Java Province.
