Husband In Bintan Desperate To Commit Suicide Due To High Childbirth Fees

TANJUNGPINANG - A man with the initials BS (34), a resident of Kijang, Bintan Regency, tried to end his life in the Senggarang forest area, Tanjungpinang City, on Monday, November 4.

This incident was revealed after Tanjungpinang City Police officers received reports from residents about bloodstains on the road and motorbikes left on empty land around the Senggarang forest.

After receiving the report, the officers immediately went to the location and conducted a sweep of the area around the motorbike and the interior of the forest.

Tanjungpinang Police officers finally found BS about 300 meters from the location where a motorcycle was found. BS was found in a weak condition, lying in the forest with bleeding wounds in the stomach.

Tanjungpinang City Police Chief, Iptu▁olahamsu Alson, said that based on the family's statement, BS was depressed regarding the cost of childbirth which reached Rp. 40 million.

"When found, the victim was unconscious. It is suspected that the victim was about to commit suicide due to depression due to economic problems due to childbirth. She (the victim) saw Google's cost of giving birth of Rp. 40 million, maybe that's what made her depressed," said Alson.

Currently, BS has been hospitalized at the provincial hospital for further medical treatment.
