The Director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Pol M Anwar Reksowidjojo, said that the police arrested the perpetrator of the murder of a pregnant woman in Palembang on Monday, November 11, 2024.

He said the victim was killed by the perpetrator M Zulkarnain (28), a new friend he had just met before the incident. The victim was found dead on Sunday, November 10, 2024 in Seberang Ulu I District, Palembang City. The motive for the murder itself was because the perpetrator was hurt by the victim's words.

"Initially, the victim borrowed the perpetrator's motorbike, because he was not lent the motorbike, the two argued. The victim also said harsh words that made the perpetrator hurt, resulting in the murder," he said.

He added that during the murder process, the perpetrator held the victim in a chokehold and immediately stabbed the victim's neck twice. After the body was pulled down the path with a rope, the perpetrator simply killed the victim.

"The victim's throat was slashed twice, after which his body was pulled down a path at the crime scene with a rope. However, the victim's body was found by residents in the morning," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with the threat of the death penalty or life or a maximum of 15 years in prison.
