There Is A Proposal For Social Assistance To Be Stopped During The Pilkada, Social Minister Gus Ipul Affirms That The Distribution Is Scheduled

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul responded to the proposal that the distribution of social assistance (bansos) be stopped until the simultaneous 2024 Pilkada contestation ends.

Gus Ipul emphasized that the distribution of social assistance will still be carried out in accordance with the scheduled agenda.

"We have a schedule for disbursement. Now it's the fourth quarter and part of the third quarter. Yes, it's according to schedule, according to schedule," said Gus Ipul, Tuesday, November 12.

Gus Ipul said that his party had never discussed that the distribution of social assistance should be temporarily suspended. Because, he emphasized, his party wants the distribution of social assistance to the community on time and on target.

"We have never discussed specifically but we want the assistance to be on target and on time," said Gus Ipul.

The Secretary General of PBNU reminded that the distribution of social assistance should not be carried out only for political purposes.

"What is clear is that social assistance is not allowed for political purposes, it's clear," said Gus Ipul.

Previously, member of Commission II of the DPR from the PDI-P (PDIP) faction, Deddy Sitorus, suggested that the distribution of social assistance (bansos) be temporarily suspended until the 2024 Pilkada contestation was completed.

"My advice is leadership, if possible, because it is only a matter of this week our Pillingkada, if possible all social assistance from the regional government will be temporarily suspended until November 27," said Deddy in a hearing (RDP) with Commission II of the DPR together with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 11.

Deddy emphasized that the 2024 simultaneous regional election contestation must take place honestly and fairly. He is worried that the distribution of social assistance is prone to misuse.

"So that all those who fight are equal, sir. So no one will benefit, whether it's from PDIP or from anywhere. Hopefully, that can be the conclusion of our meeting," said Deddy.
