Proud Of The Indonesian Futsal National Team To Win The AFF Cup, Verrell: Gives Scholarships To Them

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Futsal national team (Timnas) won the AFF Cup after successfully conquering Vietnam with a score of 2-0. Member of Commission X DPR RI, Verrell Bramasta Fadilla, said that the victory of the Garuda futsal team was an achievement that needed to be maintained.

"After 14 years of waiting for us, Indonesia can again win this year. This victory is also a history where Indonesia managed to break Thailand's dominance in the AFF Cup," said Verrell Bramasta, Monday (11/11/2024).

Verrell said this victory was not only proud of the country, but also showed the rapid progress of futsal sports in Indonesia which were able to compete at the international level.

"Of course this victory will be the victory of all Indonesian people, and will be a breath of fresh air for the world of futsal in the country," said the legislator from the West Java VII electoral district.

The AFF Cup final match will be held at Terminal 21 Nakhon Ratchasima, Sunday (10/11). Indonesia was able to take a quick lead over Vietnam under the guidance of coach Hector Souto who came from Vietnam.

In the futsal final match, Muhammad Syaifulloh scored in the 7th minute in the first half. Then Indonesia again scored from Rizki Xavier in the second half until the match ended in Indonesia to defend his victory.

Verrel also flashed back at the moment of the victory of the Indonesian Football National Team to beat the South Korean national team some time ago. The Red and White national team managed to win over South Korea under the guidance of coach Shin Tae-yong who came from South Korea.

"I think this is similar to Shin Tae-yong, which made Indonesia beat South Korea in the quarter-finals of the U-23 Asian Cup. Hector Souto as Indonesia coach also managed to make Indonesia win to beat his former team, Vietnam in the 2024 AFF Final this time," explained Verrel.

To support the development of futsal in Indonesia, the Commission member in the DPR in charge of sports and education affairs encourages increased support from the Government for the development and development of Athletes. Moreover, the Indonesian Futsal National Team has proven its potential at the Southeast Asian level.

Furthermore, Verrell hopes that the Government can provide adequate futsal facilities in all regions. Commission X of the DPR is also said to be ready to support the improvement of field development and futsal training facilities in terms of budgeting, both at the school and community levels.

"This will be an important foundation for scoring more young talents who will bring Indonesia's name more fragrant in the world arena," Verrell said.

"We must also look at the potential and talents spread throughout the country. So sustainable coaching at the regional level is very important to ensure the regeneration of quality athletes," he continued.

Verrell added that the Government together with the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI) need to form a program that focuses on training and developing futsal athletes from an early age. The hope is that Indonesia can have more quality futsal athletes.

"Including appreciation for athletes who excel in the field of futsal. The government needs to provide scholarships for further education and training for them, or for children who have potential in the futsal sector," said Verrell.

"This will be an impetus for athletes to continue to develop both academically and sports. Participation in regional and international competitions requires adequate support," he added.
